Hello, and welcome to my website. I am the proprietor of DTOURZ and have been a professional tour guide since 1999. My specialties are ornithology, botany, natural history and soft adventure. Teaching people about the wonders of nature is my passion, and I will personally take you on a tour that you will never forget.
Born and raised in the village of Placencia, southern Belize, I grew up on this beautiful fourteen mile stretch of beach, considered by many to be the best in the country. As a child, my father was a fisherman and he took me to the cayes for days, sometimes weeks at a time, to gain experience in fishing. However, I soon realised that my true interest was in the peninsula’s flora and fauna. As a child I would hand-rear baby birds; when they matured and flew away I was left crying until I found another to care for. I’ve always loved plants, and from the age of 7 I had a small garden in my parents’ back-yard; I pretty much grew anything that would sprout!
Throughout my education I excelled in sciences and after completing my first year of college, I got a job at the Tourism Centre in Placencia to earn money towards my Bachelor’s degree. However, plans changed after I completed my tour guide training with Mr David Vernon; he must have seen some underlying qualities in me, as out of more than 30 students, he picked me to personally train to be his second guide. Mr Vernon became my mentor and I worked for him for the first 3 years of my career. During this time, together we created the famous “rock slides” of my Cockscomb Basin tour; still to this day, no other guide in the country is permitted to partake in this exhilarating adventure!
